OnePlus may have to change the name of its Dash Charge feature
HOLDING THE WIRELESS EARPHONES Bragi is suing OnePlus in the European Union for allegedly violating its "Dash" brand.
The little-known German company claims that OnePlus deliberately creates confusion with the "Dash Charge" feature on its smartphones, which it says resembles its own "Dash Charger" bundled with its wireless headphones.
This lawsuit is not exceptional, Bragi, uh, boasts of filing a new lawsuit against OnePlus in the United States.
In order to support his thesis, the company notes that the US Patent and Trademark Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office have rejected OnePlus's offer to register a Dash trademark. Charge.
"This action is part of our ongoing efforts to protect the valuable intellectual property of the company," said Bragi in a statement to INQ.
"We had already warned OnePlus to stop violating our trademark and regret that we had to take this action to enforce our intellectual property rights.Their intentional violation of our brands can not and will not be tolerated. These actions threaten One and get Intellectual property ".
It is unlikely that this lawsuit will harm OnePlus, as reports note that the Chinese company has avoided using the term "Dash Charge" in its promotional material since it has been denied a mark in the EU in March.
Since then, OnePlus plans to change the name of the feature to "Warp Charge," the company filing a trademark for the name of the EU Intellectual Property Office in July.
It remains to be seen if "Dash Charge" will appear on the OnePlus 6T, the next flagship product of the company that is expected to make its official debut later this month.
The handset, which has been the victim of multiple leaks, will come with a built-in fingerprint sensor, internal Snapdragon 845 components, a larger battery than its predecessor OnePlus 6 and, uh, no headphone jack. μ
