OnePlus is embarking on a new activity: the manufacture of televisions. Known especially for its phones, the OnePlus of China also offers a small catalog of great accessories, such as wireless headphones and amazingly impressive backpacks, although nothing is as complex or expensive as a TV. In announcing the news on OnePlus online forums, company boss Pete Lau describes it as "the first step in building a connected human experience."

Every hardware manufacturer is now looking for ways to monetize the smart home space. Samsung and Huawei have recently announced smart speakers, Apple and Google already have HomePod and Google Home, respectively, and Microsoft and Sony are former owners with their Xbox and PlayStation consoles. OnePlus has decided to make its entry into this market the television itself, which has always been the focus of home entertainment, although often with the help of other connected devices. By reading Lau's teaser ad, the OnePlus TV – which until now only has a project name, no schedule or specification has been unveiled.

The OnePlus smart TV will be developed by a new division within OnePlus, led by Pete Lau himself. Still in the early stages of its development, OnePlus is currently seeking feedback from its fans, as is often the case, on their priorities with a future smart TV.
