Eve Game director Jeff Kaplan has revealed that the much-needed Torbjorn reshuffle is poised to become a more viable hero in the hugely popular multiplayer shooter.
Torbjorn's skills and playing style have failed to match the damage and speed of other heroes, pushing him to the last rank. Kaplan hopes that the changes will make Torbjorn a more acceptable choice.
Revision of Torbjorn on the way
Earlier in the year, Kaplan stated that Eve Hero covers are coming for Hanzo, Symmetra and Torbjorn. Hanzo and Symmetra have since undergone massive changes, so it's only a matter of time before Torbjorn gets overhauled. This time is now, with Torbjorn 2.0 deployed on the Eve PTR server.
The first change is that Torbjorn gets rid of scrap, replacing his ability to give armor packs to his teammates with a new one called Overload. This gives Torbjorn speed, damage, and pace bonuses for a short time.
Torbjorn's iconic turrets will also be revised. They will no longer require upgrades, Torbjorn already deploying them as current level 2 turrets. The turrets can also be launched at close range, which should allow Torbjorn to access more strategic locations.
Finally, Ultimate, Molten Core from Torbjorn will keep his name but with radical changes. With the overload now providing Torbjorn with the improvements that the molten core provided, the Ultimate skill will allow rather Eve hero to shoot puddles of lava for massive damage to an area, with additional damage against armor.
