The reason why Google removed this feature is unclear, but one of the theories might be that the Voice Match feature had some security holes that could allow someone with a similar voice, or voice recording, unlock phones. Another reason could be that Google sees its new Pixel support, which allows you to use Google Assistant without having to unlock the phone at the dock, which is a better solution for hands-free access.
