Good news, fans of retro games: Sony has announced that it will release a miniature PlayStation original console with 20 titles PS1 preloaded. Similar to NES NES and SNES consoles, it is significantly smaller than the original (about 45% smaller), but the included replica controllers will be of normal size. The PlayStation Classic, as she calls it, is due out on December 3, exactly 24 years after the launch of the original system in Japan. It will cost you $ 100 / $ 130 CDN.
Of the 20 games that will be available on the console, Sony has announced only five games so far: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms. It's already a fine selection, representing a range of genres that should appeal to most people interested in the games of the 90s. What about games like Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania: Symphony of the night, Final Fantasy Tactics, Resident Evil, or whatever your favorite PS1 title, it will be necessary to wait.
The unit will come with an HDMI cable, a USB cable and two wired controllers. Notably, it does not come with an AC adapter. In addition, it comes with replicas of the original PS1 controller, which does not have analog sticks. In 1997, Sony released the DualShock controller for PS1, which many consider a significant improvement, thanks to its two analog sticks and its vibration function. We do not know yet if Sony will release DualShock controllers for the PlayStation Classic.

The number of PlayStation Classic units that Sony will make available at launch is not clear.
