The next PlayStation Classic from Sony Interactive Entertainment will support USB AC adapters for smartphones, but will not support other PlayStation devices, such as the DualShock 4.

The news comes from a spokesperson for Sony (via IGN), and she reports that she will not be delivered with her own power source, or in other words, you will need to purchase a USB power adapter separately. However, according to Sony, this should not be a problem, because many of them already have these adapters through smartphones.

"PlayStation Classic's power supply can be provided using any USB power source that meets 5V / 1.0A requirements, including those provided with smartphones," said Sony spokesman.

As you may know, the PlayStation Classic comes with the standard PlayStation controllers that come with the console, they do not have the DualShock or Analog controller designs.

Thus, many wondered if there would be support for more modern PS devices, such as the DualShock 4, via USB ports. Well, IGN asked this question: and the answer is no.

"PlayStation platform devices of origin or later are not supported on PlayStation Classic, which is designed to work with the provided controllers."

Considering that only conventional controllers will ship with the system, it probably means that the games delivered later on the PS1 while there were new controllers – so the titles requiring two analog keys – will not feature on the system . And that actually excludes a considerable amount of classics, such as Ape Escape. But since Sony only ships the system with 20 games, this should not be a problem, as they will still be spoiled for choice.

The PlayStation Classic is expected to arrive later this year on December 3, priced at $ 99. Here is a quick overview of everything we know about the system you may have missed:
