PlayStation Now streaming service now offers game downloads

Sony's PlayStation Now streaming service has a much-loved feature: game downloads. PS Now is a subscription platform similar to Netflix where users can stream PS2, PS3 and PS4 titles. Soon, users will be able to download these games to play offline. The company claims that "almost all" PS4 games will support downloads, as well as all PS2 titles. There is no word on PS3 games, though.

You can also transfer the saved data from the cloud to your console to play without an Internet connection. Sony states that "you will need to connect your PS4 system to the Internet every few days to check your PS Now subscription, even if you only play downloaded games."

PlayStation Now is currently priced at $ 9.99 per month (or $ 99.99 per year), and offers over 600 games including Bloodborne, Red Dead Redemption, and The last of us. The addition of game downloads comes as Microsoft continues to improve its Game Pass subscription service, which it recently did by adding a real console to a bundled subscription plan.

Sony says that downloads will be launched "in the coming days".
