Police Interceptor Utility based on the Ford Explorer 2020 is the fastest police car in the United States.

The all-new Ford Explorer 2020 has not been unveiled yet and will not be in showrooms until next summer, but we know one thing about it: it can move.

The utility-intercepting version of the next SUV's police proved to be faster and faster than any other vehicle tracking the latest cycle of the Michigan State Police's benchmark tests.

Powered by a new 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, the all-wheel-drive Ford has accelerated to 100 mph in 13.59 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150 mph. These numbers surpass second place in the 1.07-liter rear-wheel-drive, 5.7-liter Dodge Charger rear-wheel drive sedan. and 1 mph, respectively, while the four-wheel-loader finished third near both brands.

The Ford also outperformed the all-wheel-drive Charger while braking a few feet against the lighter rear-wheel drive sedan. Crucially, the Ford has pinched both cars by less than a second around the Grattan Raceway road course, which offers the best overall assessment of its scammers' capture capabilities.

The Interceptor and the Civil Explorer will be built on a brand new platform that they will share with a new Lincoln Aviator. Unlike the current architecture used by Explorer for front-wheel drive, new retail models should also be offered with rear-wheel drive to better compete with premium SUVs.

A hybrid version of the Interceptor will also be offered, but not as fast as the turbo, but will offer an estimated combined power of 24 mpg, according to Ford.
