Porsche 911 2020 teasers offer our best look to date

Just like Porsche in the past with Taycan, the manufacturer now has some camouflaged teasers of its new car, the Porsche 911 of 2020.

Porsche unveiled many snapshots of the new 911 while undergoing tests in almost every climate known to man. Each Porsche site tests its cars for different purposes. Porsche tests in the desert to ensure that its interior – and more importantly, air conditioning – can withstand a heat of 122 degrees.

He travels to Finland to make sure cars always start and withstand cold as cold as minus 31 degrees. Perhaps more interestingly, Porsche also claimed to have tested 911 in China to prove that it "could work reliably with fuels whose qualities vary enormously". They travel to the mountains to see how cars are operating in the air and crisscross the high speed test tracks in Italy to make sure the car can withstand prolonged abuse.

The camouflage is damn limited, which gives us our best look at the 992 generation Neunelfer. Although the front does not change so much, the rear uses thinner lighting, similar to the one we saw on the new Cayenne and Panamera. As with all previous generations, the silhouette remains faithful to the original design. Hey, if it's not broken …

The minimal camouflage should also indicate that Porsche intends to unveil the 992 very soon. If the builder takes the route of the traditional auto show, he could drop the new 911 in Los Angeles just after Thanksgiving, the most likely route, since that's what Porsche told Car and Driver. That said, if the plans change, it could potentially break the coverage in Detroit or Geneva in the middle of winter, although the warmer climates of Los Angeles certainly seem to be the best solution.
