When Porsche unveiled its latest Speedster concept, we immediately fell in love with how Porsche merged the Speedster's old-school style with the body of the new generation, the 911, the 99 generation. is more of a concept – it will be something you can buy and drive.

At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, Porsche has announced the start of production of the 991 Speedster. The manufacturer also brought a second version of the Speedster concept to the show, wearing a sharp suit of the red Guards paint, which refers to the 1988 Speedster.

Although the Speedster's bodywork is based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet and the GT3, it recovers carbon fiber fenders, as well as a carbon fiber boot and hood. This is not a convertible either. In fact, there is no roof at all. Instead, the Speedster has shortened window frames, smaller side windows, and a "double bubble" body post just behind the front seats. If you really need to put something on top, it comes with a small barrel cover with buttons.

There are some keys on the Speedster that are not found on any other model. The fuel tank cap is located at the front and center of the hood, while the original mirrors were exchanged for conventional "Talbot" mirrors. The Speedster concept shakes the 21-inch wheels with central locking and the headlights feature red-tinted position lights.

Although the engine used by the production Speedster is not clearly defined, the concept is based on a naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine developing more than 500 horsepower, which is routed via a six-speed manual transmission.

The Speedster will go into production early in 2019. It will be limited to 1,948 copies, a reference to 1948 – the year when Porsche's first 356 cars received its operating license. Porsche did not say how much it costs, but for the most part, a regular Carrera 4 Cabriolet starts at $ 110,300.
