PS4 6.00 Update the system now, and despite the number, it does not do much

Sony today released a new system update for PlayStation 4, version 6.00. With a version number like this, you expect it to be a flagship update packed with exciting new features. Yet despite this quite reasonable expectation, there has been no real announcement from Sony, no posts on the PlayStation Blog, and generally no fanfare from the company. The reason is simple: 6.00 does nothing.

The update experienced a beta period in the month of August, a bit like in the past, but this preview included no major functionality for users. This did not mean that the official 6 o'clock outing would necessarily be the same; Beta testing for previous PS4 updates was done and did not include everything the final version could offer. But it seems that the beta of 6.00 indicates the final product because the release notes on the Sony system and website only indicate one thing: "This software update system improves system performance. "

This is a familiar site for PlayStation users, who have become accustomed to system updates over the years and who only provide behind-the-scenes improvements with no real impact on the user. But with a numbered update of 6.00, it's a disappointment, it's the least that can be said. Update 5.50 has added new parental controls and a PS Plus library; 5.00 expanded the quick menu and lists of friends; 4.00 added HDR support for all PS4; 3.00 let you share directly on Twitter and added a PS Plus section; etc.

It remains to be seen if Sony will late activate certain hidden features of this update. This would be a curious gesture, but it is possible that PS4 users will hang on for the moment, given their disappointment with the new update.
