At about the same level last year, Qualcomm unveiled a new premium processor that turned out to be the Snapdragon 845. It's used on dozens of high-end smartphones launched in 2018. The chipset supports Oreo Go Editing and combines the power of AR, VR and HDR processing. We attended a demonstration and got in the act before knowing its benefits, including a better Bluetooth listening experience. We found how powerful it was to power future Chromebooks.

Snapdragon 845 has appeared on several phones, as we said just before the end of the year. We recently completed a summary of the high-end Android phones with the Snapdragon 845 SoC. Among the devices on the list are the Samsung Galaxy S9, OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Black Shark, Xiaomi Mi 8, LG G7 and LG G7 +.

The new generation Snapdragon premium chipset is almost ready and we learned that it would come out on December 4th. The Qualcomm Tech Summit 2018 will be running soon and we can expect the Snapdragon 8150 (formerly Snapdragon 855) to be better than the Snapdragon 845 in many ways.

Snapdragon 8150 was previously marked by high scores. We also noted that the next Moto Z4 could be equipped.

The processor has reached Geekbench, ai-benchmark and AnTuTu, so we're sure it's almost ready. There is no confirmation yet but the Snapdragon 8150 could support 5G. We can expect a 20% improvement in overall performance.

One of our favorite stealths, the Ice universe (@UniverseIce) shared some details about the new processor:

The Snapdragon 8150 would have four low-power Silver Kryo cores, a 1.8 GHz L2 cache, 128KB, three Kryo Gold cores and a 256K L2 cache. The GPU will switch to Adreno 640.
