The Razer's Blade 15 gaming laptop has a new, slightly thicker model, but with more memory and less expensive.
This "dual storage" model includes both SSD memory and HDD memory and lowers the starting price of the gaming laptop to $ 1,599. You'll get 128GB of SDD SATA on a 1TB hard drive. The previous version of Blade 15, launched in May from $ 1,899, came in the form of a laptop only SSD. However, the company has decided to introduce a dual storage model based on feedback from the gaming community, said Razer's product marketing director, Kevin Sather, at PCMag.
The addition of the hard disk drive means that the dual storage model is about 0.10 inch thicker than the single storage version. (The full dimensions of the new model measure 0.78 x 13.98 x 9.25 inches.) To reduce costs, Razer also replaced the cooling mechanism of the original Blade 15, a steam chamber, by a traditional heat pipe.
On the plus side, Razer had enough room on a thicker laptop to add a gigabit Ethernet port, another request from the gaming community that was not available in the single-storage version.
The dual storage model also comes with a slightly different keypad, which can illuminate each key, but only in one color. In contrast, the single-storage model can illuminate each key of a different color, but does not activate the tiny function symbols of each key. (You can look at this picture to see what we hear.)
Although the new dual-storage model is a bit thicker, it actually weighs a little less than the single-storage version, but you'll still enjoy a six-hour battery life.
In terms of specifications, the dual-storage model comes with a 15.6-inch, 60-Hz HD display, an eighth-generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card.
PCMag examined the Blade 15 single-storage drive in June and awarded it an "excellent" rating for its sleek, stylish design. However, we found that it was a little expensive, so it is good to see Razer expand the notebook's configurations and make it more affordable.
The Blade 15 dual storage model is currently on sale in the US, Canada and China and can be purchased at Razer.com, as well as at resellers such as Amazon.
With the launch of the dual-storage product, Razer will be removing the $ 1,899 version of the single-storage blade 15, so purchase it while stocks last. Single storage machines will now start at $ 2199, but they will have a new color: mercury white. Look for it later this year on Razer.com in limited quantities.
