MONTEREY, Calif. – The Rennsport Reunion is for Porsche transmissions what WWDC is for Apple fans and EGGtoberfest for Big Green Egg grill fans.
It's an immersion in the culture and history of Porsche – an opportunity to rub elbows with the legends of the Porsche race and marvel at their winning machines. This is an art fair illustrating the evolution of a design icon. In addition, many Porsche owners have the opportunity to showcase a family heritage handed down from generation to generation.
The long weekend was a sensory cocktail of deafening engines and premium gasoline. It was also a historic meeting of the Rennsport, the one that marked the 70th anniversary of the sports car manufacturer.
Rennsport Reunion VI attracted more than 81,500 people to the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey, California from September 27-30. This was the highest participation in Laguna Seca in five years and broke the Rennsport Reunion V record of around 60,000 in 2015.
Rennsport is a preview of "The Living History of Race Cars", said Porsche AG Sales Director, Detlev von Platen Automotive News.

About 50 legendary pilots and 500 historic cars and customers, including 350 competing cars, attended last month's event. In addition, 1,600 Porsche cars were in the corral Porsche Club of America.

Rennsport Reunion VI hosted the world premiere of the Porsche 935. The 700 horse racer pays homage to the Le Mans 935/78 race car, nicknamed Moby Dick for its elongated shape, oversized fairings and white base color.
Introduced in 1976 as a racing version of the 911 Turbo, the original 935 won the 1979 Le Mans 24 Hours in total and other major endurance races, including Sebring and Daytona. The technology of the new 935 is based on the 911 GT2 RS and is powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbo. Porsche plans to build 77 copies of the vehicle, which is not legal in the street. Deliveries begin in June.
Porsche also introduced its 911 Speedster Concept for the first time in the US at Rennsport.
The concept was launched in June during the 70th anniversary celebration in Zuffenhausen, Germany. It is based on the current 991 series and borrows design benchmarks from different Porsche models.
