Samsung's collapsible smartphone will not be widely available and will carry a price of up to $ 2,500, according to unconfirmed claims drawn from a report by Gizmodo U.K.

The revolutionary handset will only be offered in the UK through a limited number of channels, according to a Gizmodo UK source that has been verified as an employee of Samsung. The smartphone will be offered without SIM card in Samsung stores, and either without SIM card or under contract with the supplier EE.

If the report is true, Samsung's plan for the foldable smartphone in the UK will be very different from its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note, offered by almost every major operator. It remains to be determined whether the device will be just as difficult to buy in the United States as Samsung's previous flagship models.

It is also unclear whether refund plans will be offered for the foldable smartphone, but it is highly likely that Samsung and EE will offer such a payment option because of its advertised price. The device will cost between £ 1,500 and £ 2,000, said the same source from Gizmodo UK, which equates to around $ 1,900 to $ 2,500.

The price range will cover different foldable phone models, the most expensive offering probably the highest internal storage and RAM for the device. The advertised price is even more expensive than previous rumors, according to which the device would cost about $ 1,850. The smartphone industry has only recently ushered in the age of $ 1,000 price tags, but it seems that Samsung is already pushing things further if it actually plans to sell the collapsible phone at $ 2,500.

Samsung's foldable phone, called Galaxy X, Galaxy F, or Galaxy Flex, was introduced at the Samsung developer conference earlier this month. The device's Infinity Flex Display was introduced at the event, although the rest of the smartphone's design was concealed.

The device will be officially announced at the World Mobile Congress in February 2019 and released in March 2019, according to the latest rumor from Samsung's home country, South Korea. Samsung, however, might not be the only smartphone maker to launch a foldable smartphone next year, LG would also have announced the launch of a smartphone at CES 2019.
