Samsung has quite a portfolio of smartphone lines in different price ranges. There are the flagship Galaxy S and Note series, the mid-range A series and the J, C and On budget ranges. However, this could soon change with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy M2, which could be the only budget offer of the company from 2019.
The Galaxy J, C and On phones are aimed primarily at the emerging and economically smart phone markets – mostly in Asia – and their differences have not been as large, justifying three separate alignments. This seems to be the focus of Samsung with the Galaxy M2 at least, according to recent reports.
But the Galaxy M2 is also interesting because it could also use one of Samsung's new slotted screens. Earlier this month, the company unveiled four new screens with (and without) notches, that Samsung should start using next year in all its ranges of smartphones. While the so-called Infinity-O screen, which has a "punch hole" on the camera, is probably reserved for the Samsung Galaxy S10, the Infinity-V and Infinity-U models are likely to compete with midrange offerings. range and budget.
Here's what the Samsung Galaxy M2 looks like with an Infinity-U display
Samsung may have made fun of Apple and Google for their respective hold of the slotted screen design, but is apparently preparing to join the party next year. However, to be honest, if the images displayed at the announcement of the new Infinity screens are far away, the implementation of the notch by Samsung will be more in tune with the trend "drop by". water "that we have seen recently, that many people recognize as the least harm. Whether the company chooses the Infinity-V or the U for the Galaxy M2, remains to be seen.
What we do know is that the Galaxy M2 will have a 2340 × 1080 screen with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, which seems to indicate that Infinity displays are joining the smartphone offerings the more affordable from Samsung. This detail was revealed in a recently disclosed AnTuTu reference for a Samsung phone bearing the model number SM-M205F, behind which apparently hides the Galaxy M2.
Among the other interesting details of the reference include 32GB of storage, an Exynos 7885 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 13MP main camera with an 8MP selfie shooter and Android 8.1 Oreo ready for use. Although these specifications seem quite plausible, they still need to be taken with a grain of salt, as we are a few months away from the device. Still, they are consistent with previous rumors about the Galaxy M2, so they could be pretty accurate.
But tell us what you think of the notches on Samsung phones mid-range and low budget. Do you like Infinity-U and Infinity-V, more angular and probably stranger? Are they better than the designs of Apple and Google, or is it a notch … still a notch? Tell us in the comments below!
