The Galaxy S9 and Note 9 phones are among the few Android flagship ships that look nothing like the iPhone X, and this is a startling success for Samsung. But that does not mean that Samsung has stopped copying what Apple does, and that the Galaxy S10 series could switch from an Apple Playbook to Apple.
This is not to say that the Infinity Display on S10 phones will have a notch like the iPhone X. But Samsung will make three separate versions of Galaxy S10 next year, which will compete with – you guessed it – three successors of the iPhone X that will be launched in mid-September.
Ming-Chi Kuo wrote a new research note for TF Securities, stating that the three Galaxy S10s will have screens of 5.8, 6.1 and 6.4 inches. In case these sizes would seem familiar, that's because Apple is about to launch a 6.1-inch iPhone X with an LCD, a 5.8-inch iPhone X with an OLED display and an iPhone X Plus 6.5 inches, also with an OLED screen
After appearances, Samsung will match the sizes of Apple, offering buyers alternatives for each new iPhone. It can always be a coincidence, of course. But again, the sizes of Apple's 2018 iPhones have been known for months, and there is no doubt that these reports were accurate.
In the meantime, we have only begun to see reports on Galaxy S10 specs and potential screen sizes. Kuo's note, seen by Business Insider adds more credence to all this, given his great track record of predicting Apple's move. In fact, Kuo is also one of the sources that mentioned the iPhone 2018 iPhone X range of 2018.
There is a key difference between future lineups. waiting for Apple and Samsung. The 6.1-inch iPhone will be the cheapest model of the three 2018 iPhones. On the other hand, it's the Galaxy S10 version of 5.8 inches that is going to be the most affordable.
Kuo also noted that larger versions of Galaxy S10 would come with an ultrasonic digital fingerprint display (FOD) technology. If that sounds familiar to you, it's because another Samsung insider took note of Kuo's assertions a few hours ago.
The Galaxy S10's 5.8-inch will feature a classic fingerprint sensor that will be placed on one of the sides of the phone.
The analyst says that Samsung will aggressively promote fingerprint detection technology, and that is understandable. The Galaxy S10 will offer buyers the only feature that Apple has ever delivered.
Kuo estimates that Samsung will sell 40 million units Galaxy S10 combined, the largest models to account for the majority of sales. The 10 note, meanwhile, could sell 14-16 million units.
