Samsung's SmartThings Tracker uses the LTE-M network to locate stray pets, inform family members where you are, or even find the keys to your car. You can also configure the Tracker as a proximity sensor to the SmartThings home automation device universe.
As long as the Tracker is within range of a cellular network, you will see its location on the Samsung SmartThings app, available for iOS and Android LTE mobile devices. LTE network coverage extends nationwide, both inside and outside buildings.
The Tracker has a power button that can also be used to send preconfigured notification alerts. For example, you can set it to double-click the "I'm at home" or "I'm ready to be picked up" or "My flight has just been landed" button. The tracker can also send an SOS signal if someone is in trouble.
Alerts and tracker location signals are reserved for users with preconfigured shared access to the SmartThings app. For example, any user with a scanner does not know when your child is going to school.
If you are racing, hiking, traveling on a business trip or in a store, you can use the Smartthings Tracker to notify your family and friends, again via the SmartThings app and only for approved users.
The Tracker is water resistant and rated IP68 and protected from dust. Samsung says the Tracker can run for up to a week with a single battery charge, depending on how it's used.
Geo-fence, the ability to establish a location area, is another versatile tracking feature. When someone with the Tracker leaves or enters a geo-isolated area, the system can be configured to send a notification alert to the Smartthings application. The geolocation function can also be used as a proximity sensor to trigger other SmartThings devices, for example to turn on lights when you are approaching your home.

The SmartThings Tracker will be available via AT & T from September 14 and Verizon later in 2018. The AT & T Tracker price is US $ 100, including connectivity for the first year. The subsequent service costs $ 5 a month or $ 50 a year.
