SimpliSafe launches a new smart doorbell with a wide angle camera

The manufacturer of home security systems SimpliSafe today launched a new intelligent standalone doorbell with heat sensors and motion detectors. It is the first product of the company that is technically not inside the house.

The Doorbell Pro SimpliSafe Video Doorbell features an HDR-compatible 1080p Wide Angle Video Camera with a 162-degree field of view, which means you can not see everything in front. Bidirectional audio is equipped with noise cancellation and echo cancellation to minimize background noise. The camera also supports thermal signature detection and human motion detection. (The latter will be activated as part of an update in the coming weeks and could make identification more accurate.) Camera recording is available on subscription for $ 5 per month for a single camera or $ 10 per month for an unlimited number of cameras.

The doorbell could serve as a decent introduction to SimpliSafe products if you have not tried them. It is a standalone product that can work alone or with the rest of the smart home products offered by the company.

In terms of design, the video doorbell SimpliSafe much like its competitors Nest or Blink: it is an elongated oval in the same colors by default: white, black and blue. It costs $ 169 and is available online and at Best Buy stores in the United States. You can choose a black, white or green facade at Best Buy, with more options to come.
