The immensity of Red Dead Redemption 2The world of the image has less to do with the size of its map than about small zoomed details strewn around the world. They all add something that bothers me and almost makes me forget that I play a video game.
I made a video about some of the details that amaze me at the very beginning of my game. You can watch or you can read about them below.
First there is the hair and grime that appears on the main character, Arthur Morgan. And if you do not keep the hair of his shaved face and do not visit a barber in the city regularly, the head on his hair and his face will only grow. It's perfect for anyone embarking on an atmosphere of grizzly negligence. I make a point of taking a shower in a local inn and buying a hair cream because I try to dress myself in order to succeed.
Another thing that I noticed is that you can virtually interact with anyone, usually in one of two ways: "greet" or "annoy". Once, I waltzed the winner of a duel in town and accepted his challenge. We ended up shooting ourselves between the ears.
The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is strangely created in the smallest details, from the picturesque sunsets to the panic of my horse as I threw ourselves over a steep hill. Low branches also hit my ass when I rode horseback. So keep an eye on those.
The game recreates weather so well that I was uncomfortable to see Arthur walk around the screen as the snow melted on his jacket, leaving giant wetlands after finding a hot hut to explore. Even the way the diffuse sunlight flows through the clouds after a torrential rain and is reflected in the mud is magical. You can almost smell everything – even the horse poop.
The dialogue is even offered naturally to make it fun to see your characters interact with each other. Members of my camp were singing songs as we went into town, even teasing out the lyrics and reacting accordingly, laughing and giving us back quickly. Even the quiet moments of this game, which matter a lot, are fun to watch.
There are even moments in the game where you have the impression of falling on a real world of Westworld with these characters walking with a real purpose. Back at camp, it's fun to listen to others' conversations and intimate moments with each other. It's unreal how real it seems.
As much as I can talk about it all day, take five minutes to watch the video above and see some of it in action. It is well worth it and, believe me, there is still a million things to discover for yourself.
