Apple seems to have locked a selected group of users of their Apple ID account in the last 20 hours or so, without clearly indicating why the incident occurred. According to reports on Reddit and Twitter, users are expelled from their Apple IDs for security reasons and are forced to reset their password to access their account.

Users report that this occurs without warning on iPhone, Apple TV and other Apple devices, while they used Apple Music, watched TV, and so on. The original poster on Reddit confirmed that two-factor authentication was enabled and that a unique iCloud password was assigned to their Apple. ID not used elsewhere, and many users report similar settings.

On Twitter, @AppleSupport guides users to the Support Communities Web page that explains what to do if your Apple ID is locked and disabled. In almost all cases, on social networks, users indicate that they must reset their Apple ID password to be able to return to their accounts.

In the absence of Apple's official word and clear reason behind these forced password resets, it's hard to understand why some users were affected and what prompted Apple to initiate the wave of resets . We have contacted Apple for a comment and will update this article if we have new news.
