Players eagerly waiting for a showcase of the next PlayStation the games will have to wait until next year, because Sony has confirmed the cancellation of the PlayStation Experience 2018. The reason is simply that Sony does not have enough to show to justify getting everyone together for the big event.
Sony recently released Spider Man for the PlayStation 4, and the open world superhero game was a resounding success, becoming the best-selling game of all time with 3.3 million copies sold in just three days. Spider Man presents a multitude of Marvel Easter egg characters and eggs, as well as a versatile photo mode that has helped raise the profile of the game on social media.

Maybe Sony decided that it's not worth it to try Spider Man hype for the moment. PSX North America has been held annually in December since December 2014, but Sony President Shawn Layden confirmed in the last episode of PSBlogcast that there would be no PSX event at United States this year:
"Now that Spider-Man is on the doorstep, in 2019, we are looking at games like Dreams and Days Gone, but we would not have enough to bring all the spectators together in one place in North America." We do not want to set too high expectations and not act on them. It was a difficult decision to make, but we decided not to organize PlayStation Experience this year. "
While this is obviously a disappointing news for those attending PSX and for those who follow online events, the cancellation of the event is without doubt the smartest solution. This means avoiding spending too much for a presentation that would probably have left the participants disappointed. It is also speculated that Sony ignores PSX this year to focus on the development of the successor to the PlayStation 4, marketed for five years already, and that arrives at the end of the typical cycle of generation of consoles.
The cancellation of the PSX 2018 means that the next big showcase of the Sony lineup will likely be at E3 in the summer of 2019. The next PlayStation exclusives include the zombie Apocalypse game Past days, The surreal science fiction action title of Hideo Kojima Grounding of death (which stars The dead who walkNorman Reedus), and the much awaited sequel The last of us 2. I hope we will know more about these titles soon, even without a PSX presentation.
