Sony PlayStation 4 Pro gets a quieter model with a silent launch

Sony, two years after the original launch of PlayStation 4 Pro, seems to have silently launched an updated and quieter variant. The new PlayStation 4 Pro with the model number CUH-7200 would be significantly quieter than the previous version, which often reached the decibel levels of jet engines. A recent review of the new CUH-7200 model compared it to the launch model, as well as to the more recent CUH-7100 variant. The new variant would work a little hotter than the original model, but its fan remains much quieter. However, it is still not as quiet as the Xbox One X.

The PlayStation 4 Pro is a powerful console, but it generates a lot of noise, often called a "jet engine" effect. According to a Eurogamer review, the Sony PlayStation 4's new model CUH-7200 recorded a maximum of 48 decibels, compared to 55 decibels in the original variant. Even the previous model CUH-7100 had scored up to 50 decibels. As mentioned, the newer PS4 Pro model will run hotter than previous versions, with the original being the coolest. With this trend, it seems that Sony is removing the noisy cooling technology in the new versions.

Apart from that, the new model PS4 Pro CUH-7200 is not accompanied by many updates. The main change to the console includes a new power adapter. While the first model PS4 Pro used the standard cable used by Sony in the PlayStation 3, the new CUH-7200 PlayStation 4 Pro uses an adapter eight similar to that of models Xbox One X, Xbox One S and PS4 Slim.

It should be noted that the new Sony PlayStation 4 Pro with model number CUH-7200 was only seen in nature with Red Dead Redemption 2. It is expected that the console will be sold in mainstream stores, from Sony again.
