Sony will offer the console PlayStation Classic in December

The Sony PlayStation raised the bar for home console systems when it arrived on the shelves in 1994, selling 100 million units worldwide. Now, the company hopes that the nostalgic wave among the players will help it win two gold medals.

The company has announced its intention to launch the PlayStation Classic, a miniaturized version of the original PlayStation, with 20 games. The system will reach stores on December 3rd.

Given the amazing success that Nintendo has experienced with its NES Classic and SNES Classic systems (both of which were quickly sold out in their first limited editions, or even top of the sales of current generation systems, and have since returned to the shelves ), Sony has naturally decided. In fact, Nintendo systems have been so successful that the company has postponed its Nintendo 64 Classic system projects this year.

The absence of a new Nintendo Classic system creates a potential opening for Sony. But the company is taking some curious steps that could impact the popularity of the PlayStation Classic.

First of all, there is the price. The PlayStation Classic will cost $ 100, against $ 60 that Nintendo charged for its conventional systems (and the NES Classic has offered 30 games on Sony's 20). In addition, the PlayStation Classic will not be sold with an AC adapter. (A USB cable is included instead.) Finally, it is important to note that Sony will miss Black Friday with the current release date.

Sony has not yet announced the full range of games for the system. Until now, the mini-console will include Final Fantasy VII, Flash Jumping, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild arms. Missing, up to now, are Gran Turismo, the best selling game of the system in its lifetime; tomb Raider, which has become a national phenomenon with the PlayStation; and favorite fan Metal Gear Solid.

Sony announces that it will announce additional titles in the coming months.
