The new Sony PS4 firmware update is now available, but this is the 6.00 update.

Time management
In the 5.00 system software update, we introduced a series of parental control enhancements.
These have allowed designated family managers to easily control what each child is playing, watching and seeing online.
Playtime management reinforces this ability by giving family managers (and adult family members who are designated guardians) the ability to set limits for the time and duration that each child can play. The management of playing time is easy; Go to Settings> Family Management on your PS4 or sign in to your PlayStation Network account as a family manager or guardian on your web browser from your PC or smartphone to check and manage your child's play time every day.
The notifications will be sent to the children during the game so that they know when they should register and leave.
Family managers / guardians can also set up the PS4 to log out once the session is over and increase or decrease play time via the web portal.
Import custom screen backgrounds via USB
By popular demand, you can now import your own images via a USB flash drive for use as custom screen backgrounds on PS4. Once imported, you can even zoom, crop and preview them in-situ to get the perfect look of your dashboard.
Note that the image files on a USB stick must be located in a folder named "IMAGES" for the PS4 to recognize them. Just go to Settings> Themes> Select Theme> Custom> Select Image> USB Storage Device.
After the 5.50 update, you can also customize your Tournaments team page with your own logo or background, which you can import from a USB stick.
To set your logo and background, go to Events> Teams> select your team> Edit Team Profile.
Improvements to the user interface of the library
• 'This PS4 tab' and Name / Avatar
Two new tabs are added to the library to make it easier for you to see the applications you have installed and purchased.
The "This PS4" tab lists all the applications installed on the PS4 system and the tab with your name / avatar lists all the applications you purchased with your PSN. This feature also makes it easy to find and find games that you have already purchased but not yet installed.
• PS Plus tab
This update also adds a new PS Plus tab to the library, which specifies the games you own free monthly PS Plus games.
If your PS Plus membership has expired, a PS Plus icon with a lock will appear next to your game so you'll know what games you can play if you re-subscribe.
• Hide apps
As requested, we add a function that will allow you to hide certain applications under the "Purchased" tab of the library.
In 'Options', you can hide content, including beta, trials, or game demos that you may not be able to see again.
Quick menu improvements
With the launch of 5.50, you will be able to access personalized friend lists directly from the Quick Menu.
This will make it easier for you to see who's online, and then send them messages or invitations, especially while you're playing.
When listening to music on PS4, you can access some shortcuts from the quick menu.
If you use Spotify on PlayStation Music, the "square" button will serve as a shortcut for volume control. And when you're on the media player or the USB music player, "triangle" will work as a shortcut for playback or pause and the "square" button as the volume control.

Update notifications
Users will be able to permanently delete old notifications from their PS4 – for better organization and management.
Simply go to Notifications and press the "triangle" or "OPTIONS" button to open a menu that will allow you to select one or more notifications you want to delete.
Background music on PlayStation Now
With PS background music, you can now listen to your favorite tracks while playing a PS Now game.
Be aware that, as when playing a game on disc or digital download on PS4, background music is not always available.

Supersampling mode on PS4 Pro
PS4 Pro users participating in the beta will see a new "supersampling mode" under Settings, which allows HDTV users (1080p or less) to enjoy an enhanced viewing experience when playing PS4 games.
With the supersampling mode, some games will be rendered at a higher resolution, then resized to match the HDTV – allowing PS4 Pro owners to take advantage of the benefits of improved image clarity even if their PS4 Pro does not fit. is not connected to a 4K TV.
