The PS4 Pro can be noisy, especially during intense games. But these noise problems finally seem to have been solved with the latest revision of the Sony console, according to a review of Digital foundry.
From the outside, the new CUH-7200 is almost identical to the previous models of the PS4 Pro – two of them have been preserved. However, the cumbersome three-pin PC-style power connector has been discreetly replaced by the same thin, classic eight-figure cable that Sony and Microsoft are currently using for their PS4 Slim and Xbox One S consoles. not have had a significant impact on power consumption or heat output – this suggests that Sony has not reduced the processor yet – something about the overall overhaul has resulted in a significant drop in fan noise between 50 and 55 dB for the original PS4 Pro model between 44 and 48 dB for the updated model.
Without tearing one of the consoles for ourselves, it's hard to know exactly what has changed. But if you are already looking to buy a PS4 Pro this holiday season, this seems to be the model to choose. Unfortunately, it is not necessarily easy to get one. Digital foundry discovered that Sony has quietly inserted the new PS4 in the Red Dead Redemption 2 bundle (look for a CUH-7216B on the front of the package if this route interests you), but you must buy a copy of the game you already own. We believe this revision will quickly become the default console as retailers analyze their old stock.
