Spotify Lite is a 15 MB application that lacks a lot of major features [APK Download]

These days, many popular applications have lightened versions. Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and even Uber now have tiny versions of their main apps, and Spotify is the latest to join the fun. Unfortunately, its implementation is not exactly the best, with a lot of crucial features of the main application missing.

Drake has somehow had his face on the art of each playlist.

Spotify Lite looked promising at first glance. The interface itself looks pretty much like the main application, with a custom launch screen and Facebook connectivity. It's only 15 MB compared to ~ 100 MB of the main application. However, there are several reasons for this size reduction of 85%.

First of all, there is no offline reading for any reason. One would think that this would be a primary goal given that the purpose of this application is to backup data (see screenshots above), but apparently not. There is also no reading of extreme quality, but it is at least understandable given the purpose. Spotify Connect, which allows audio to be streamed from wireless audio devices, is unfortunately also missing.

You can not choose songs, only playlists.

Continuing the demerits of the application, even Premium subscribers can not select specific songs to play. The same behavior occurs in playlists, which is simply absurd. In other words, the app removes all premium features from the paid sub accounts, then some.

As you can tell, Spotify went a bit too hardcore on the "lite" aspect of Spotify Lite, removing the essential features in favor of a smaller application size. But if you want to give the application a chance, we have the APK Spotify Lite on APK Mirror. It's also on the Play Store, but none of my devices are shown as compatible. Fortunately, Spotify is making some improvements to make it really usable.
