Steve Carell returns to the TV!
The actor, 56, will join Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon's TV show Apple TV in a regular role in the series, confirms ET.
Carell will play Mitch Kessler, a morning show host who strives to stay relevant in a changing media landscape. Aniston and Witherspoon were named to play in the series in July 2017. They will also produce executive products with their respective production companies, Echo Films and Hello Sunshine, alongside former HBO theater leader Michael Ellenberg. Kerry Ehrin will be the showrunner of the series, while Brian Stelter of CNN, who wrote a book on early morning television, Morning summit, will be a consultant.
In November 2017, the show was resumed for two seasons with 10 episodes each. The untitled television series of the morning begins in Los Angeles next week.
The coin marks the first regular role of Carell in the series since his departure Office in 2011. The rumors of revival seemed to have started as soon as the show ended in 2013, but the actor told ET in November 2017 that he did not want to return to play in Michael Scott.
"I do not want to do it too much because I love the show so much, I just want it to be remembered as if people remember it," he said. Explain. "People who originally liked the show would like it to come back as before … but that could never happen."
Carell explained her aversion to recovery in a recent interview with Squire.
"The climate is different," he said. "I mean, the very idea of this character, Michael Scott, was largely based on inappropriate behavior. I mean, he's definitely not a model boss. Much of what is described in this show is completely false. That's the goal, you know? But I just do not know how it would fly now.
"There is a very strong awareness of the current offensive, which is good, it is certain," he added. "But at the same time, when you take a character like that too literally, it does not really work."
