The Apple Watch leaks were mostly accurate but now you can forget them: the real details have all been revealed.

The previous dimensions were 38 mm and 42 mm, which is the height of the boxes. These have increased slightly to 40 mm and 44 mm, but even when they are held side by side, the differences are almost imperceptible. Only when you change the old and the new model from their side do you see the difference: this new watch has been developed and is significantly thinner from front to back.
The result is something that feels lighter and more manageable on the wrist.

The new display
But the big difference is obvious when you touch the watch and the screen bursts. Just like on the iPhone X, the new watch tightens the screen or almost. Certainly, the bezel around the screen, even though it's never too powerful, is almost unnoticeable now, especially with some of the new faces of Watch.
It is not only that the screen is larger, although it is an extremely attractive development, it is that the edges are no longer separated. The display now has curved edges, matching the frame. It's a design element that has worked well for the iPhone X, so no wonder Apple also wants it on the watch.
The new screens are so much larger that the screen of the smaller 40mm watch is larger than the older model of larger size (42mm).

The new digital crown
The interface of the watch has always been dominated by the digital crown, the modern version of a traditional watch winder. Its spring mechanism was subtle and its rotational movement satisfactory. Now, like the Touch ID button on the iPhone that has introduced a haptic feedback on a non-moving piece to give a sense of movement, the Digital Crown works differently.
The haptic feedback means that it does not move mechanically, even if it still turns for real. Now, when you tap it, it does not move, but it really feels like doing it. And even for the rotation, there is the addition of haptics, which simulates a rattling that was missing from the previous version. This also paves the way for a new technological capability, the ECG.
It also looks different now, with a soft red circular line indicating that it's a model with cellular connectivity, unlike the full red circle on the 3-series.

ECG
The ECG, or electrocardiogram, is a tool for measuring the heart. The digital crown has an electrode in it and there is another under the watch in its sapphire crystal back. With the live ECG application, when you touch the crown, you create a connection loop between your left wrist and your right finger, allowing you to perform the measurement. The software is still being tuned, but the FDA's clearance means that it will soon be made available to US users.

Watch material
Previously, the back of the watch was made of glass or ceramic, depending on the model you chose. Now, the back is ceramic on all Apple Watch Series 4 models, a more expensive component but one that allows for greater connectivity. Antennas around the watch also improve call quality.
The case materials are aluminum and stainless steel already used, although this year there is no Apple Watch Edition. This is the super-luxury version that was made from gold the first year and ceramic in the second and third.
There is no indication that Watch Edition is gone forever, but it's not here this year.
The Nike and Hermes models are in the Series 4 range, made of aluminum and stainless steel respectively.
And the 3 Series is still available, but now only in aluminum finish models, whether it's only GPS or GPS and cellular, including Nike versions.

Colors
The aluminum series 4 watches are available in three shades: silver, gray and gold. Stainless steel, the brightest and most expensive finish, is available in regular stainless steel and spatial black, as before. But now, there is also a frankly beautiful version in stainless steel gold color.
I would say that this is the true advantage of the range, even if the black space remains hard to beat.
Price
The 3 Series Watch is available now at its discounted price, which is $ 279 for the smaller, 38mm, and $ 309 for the GPS only. Add cellular connectivity for $ 100 more. Nike editions order the same prices.
The Series 4 is available for pre-order starting Friday, September 14, on sale a week later, Friday, September 21. The smallest model, 40 mm, costs $ 399, the biggest being $ 429. This is for GPS only. Add cellular connectivity to $ 100.
If you fancy a stainless steel watch, all models come with GPS and Cellular connectivity, prices are $ 699 for 40mm, $ 749 for 44mm. That's the price with a sports group. Add $ 100 for the bubbly Milanese Loop.
