Today, we are reviewing the T – Mobile USA version of the OnePlus 6T and what it means to buy. This device is not the same as the OnePlus 6T that you would otherwise have purchased directly from OnePlus or otherwise. This unit comes with different software, is locked in at least one way and also presents hardware differences. Let's talk about differences.
Is OnePlus 6T hardware different for T-Mobile?
Yes, kind of. Only one variant of the OnePlus 6T is available with T-Mobile USA. This version is a variant to a single SIM card compared to the original. Therefore, you can only use one SIM card at a time. This could be a bit of a headache for users who travel on a regular basis – but again, pulling out the SIM card drawer and disconnecting it at any time is not the worst thing in the world. It's close, but it's not the worst.
This version of the OnePlus 6T available from T-Mobile USA has an internal storage of 128 GB, 8 GB of RAM and an outer case in black mirror. This device has the same radio bands (availability of network connectivity) as any other version and runs the Oxygen OS version of Android. This is the slight variant of Android made by OnePlus.
Does T-Mobile load its applications on the OnePlus 6T?
Short answer: yes. T-Mobile has two applications on their OnePlus 6T. One is called T-Mobile, the other is Unlock. You probably will not need to play with the second of these apps, while the first one will give you access to your T-Mobile account information, and so on. T-Mobile also has some restrictions on unlocking its phone more than it has been unlocked.
Is the T-Mobile OnePlus 6T network locked?
You have that right it is. According to OnePlus representative Kameron S, "OnePlus 6Ts purchased from T-Mobile are locked on the T-Mobile network until the device is fully paid for and used for 40 days on their service. If you want to unlock the boot loader for the OnePlus 6T T-Mobile USA version, you will need to unlock the network of your device, which means that you will have to go through T-Mobile to get there.
Once the device is unlocked, it can be used with other networks such as AT & T and Verizon. The Global OnePlus 6T is an unlocked boot loader and an unlocked network upon delivery.
Will the OnePlus 6T software be updated on the T-Mobile version?
Yes, but it could be delayed. presumably it will almost certainly be behind the global version (unlocked) of the phone each time you update OnePlus. According to OnePlus, "Due to the additional level of certification required by T-Mobile for all software releases, there may be a slight lag, but we are working diligently to reduce this period in all cases."
A little late to launch
As Android Authority discovered, the OnePlus 6T with T-Mobile is late on software updates at launch. This means that a set of features is not yet available on the T-Mobile variant.

4. Unlocking screen updates

6. "Bug fixes and improvements"
These features are all included in the ready-to-use update available for the unlocked global version of the OnePlus 6T. They will eventually arrive at the T-Mobile version, but as will be the case for updates of this type in the future, they will arrive later than they will reach the global version of the phone.
