The 2019 Jeep Renegade Receives the All-New 1.3 Liter Turbocharged Engine in the United States

Jeep unveiled the Renegade in Europe this summer and has just unveiled the details of the American model.

With an instantly recognizable appearance, the updated crossover features a new front fascia with a slightly revised grille. The Renegade also offers restyled wheels and an updated color palette that now includes Bikini, Slate Blue and Sting Gray.

Speaking of exterior styling changes, the crossover can now be equipped with a new LED lighting group. As the name suggests, the packaging includes LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and LED tail lights.

The domestic changes are more modest, as drivers will find an updated group of instruments with new graphics, according to Jeep. The Euro-spec model received a revised center console and an additional USB port, but the company declined to indicate whether or not these changes were carried over to the US-spec model.

Whatever the case may be, the 2019 Renegade offers additional security systems because the crossover can be equipped with an Advanced Tech group. It now includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist Plus Park Assist Park Assist / Park Assist Plus.

Under the hood, a new standard 2.4-liter Tigershark engine produces 180 hp (134 kW) and 237 Nm (175 lb-ft). It is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission that can be coupled to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The big news for 2019 is the addition of a brand new 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 177 hp (132 kW) and 270 lb-ft of torque (270 Nm). The engine comes standard on the Renegade Limited and Trailhawk, but is also available on the Sport and Latitude. The engine is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and features on / off technology to improve fuel efficiency.
