Alienware has announced the release of its new m15 gaming laptop. The company wants to follow in the footsteps of recent gaming laptops from companies like Razer and MSI in building its thinnest and lightest 15-inch notebook.
The m15 offers everything you expect from a 2018 gaming laptop: a sleeker Nvidia Max-Q design that allows performance swapping against portability, from Intel's 8th generation processors, up to the end of the game. 32GB RAM and many storage options. Customers will also have the choice of a 60Hz FHD display, a 144Hz FHD panel designed for gaming, and a 60Hz UHD display for better resolution.
Design is the biggest leap from Alienware's previous models, and it's immediately obvious when you compare them side by side. The new m15 offers thinner frames, a smaller footprint and a much better look than the old bulky Alienware design.
The new m15 measures 4.76 pounds and 0.83 inches in thickness. (In comparison, the Razer Blade 2018 – which is currently the best gaming notebook you can buy – weighs 4.63 kg and measures 0.68 inch in thickness.) 13-inch model, which weighs 5.8 pounds and is 14% thicker than the m15.
Alienware has also updated the keyboard with a chiclet design (do not worry, it's still backlit) and inserts a full numeric keypad and touchpad into a more modern combination pad. In terms of ports, it has three USB ports, a USB-C Thunderbolt 3, HDMI and Mini DisplayPorts, Ethernet and Alienware proprietary graphic amplifier socket.
The m15 is not the finest nor the lightest laptop. After all, an Alienware laptop is still an Alienware laptop, which means that gaming performance will always be the top priority. But like other Max Q notebooks on the market, the m15 is the first Alienware not to be missed. only to be useful as a gaming laptop. Its size and weight could make it a viable option as a daily computer, which is very encouraging to see.
The m15 will be available on October 25 from $ 1,099.
