Apple has released the iOS 12.1 developer beta 1 and reports the Group FaceTime feature that has been removed from the iOS version 12, reports 9to5 Mac. Apple watchOS 5.1 developer beta 1 and tvOS 12.1 developer beta 1 have also been deployed. Developer software can only be downloaded from the Apple website for registered developers. Updates should be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update.
According to Apple's release notes (via 9to5 Mac), the iOS 12.1 beta SDK comes with Xcode 10.1, which can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Program download page. The iOS 12.1 developer beta 1 update has the version number 16B5059d, while the watchOS developer beta 1 and tvOS 12.1 developer beta 1 are provided with the 16R5559d and 16J5575c versions respectively.
Earlier this week, Apple released the final versions of iOS 12 and watchOS 5 for download. New versions of the software were announced in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple iOS 12 includes new features such as Group FaceTime, Siri shortcuts, Scren Time, Do Not Distrub at bedtime, and more. Support for two SIM cards for iPhone XS Max and iPhone XS will also be released. Apple WatchOS 5 includes Walkie Talkie, enhanced notifications, new faces, and more.
Separately, developer Steve Troughton-Smith shared on Twitter a screenshot of the iOS 12.1 code, which suggests a landscape orientation support for Face ID. This suggests that Apple is preparing to launch its new iPad Pro models with the Face ID feature. The new 11-inch tablet and an updated version of the existing version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro version were expected at the September 12 event, which did not take place.

From what I understood, the face ID in landscape mode would require a realignment of front-facing sensors, so you will not see it on existing hardware. Https://t.co/gVyB4Hz3pW

The new Apple iPad Pro variants should be launched by the end of the year. Both tablets are supposed to drop Touch ID and the home button in favor of FaceID. The iPad can be used in a vertical or horizontal orientation, which could be the reason why Apple is working on the support of landscape orientation for Face ID.

The developer, in a consecutive tweet, said that for Face ID to work in landscape orientation, the sensors on the front camera will have to be realigned. This means that the media can not be deployed to existing devices through a software update because it requires hardware reconfiguration.
