The Audi R8 2019 looks refreshed and sharper than ever

The Audi R8 has long been one of our favorite fast cars and it looks like it is still improving for 2019.

The Audi R8 V10 is an easy car to love. It's beautiful seems incredible, and in terms of supercar, it is relatively affordable to own, reliable and made for a fairly reasonable daily driver. Audi probably could have persevered with the R8 as it is for a few years without collecting too many complaints. Not content to rest on its laurels, the company announced Tuesday that its missile mid-engine would be improved.

First and foremost, this naturally aspirated high-speed V10 is not going anywhere. It is available in two powers. We assume this means that the standard car will still produce 532 horsepower and that the Plus model will reach 602 horsepower, although Audi does not specify yet.

As for the performance changes, Audi promises that the behavior of the 2019 R8 will spark a keen love in the form of suspension and steering adjustments. Again, the German automaker is showing a lot of rigor as to the evolution of the suspension, but the steering has been adjusted to provide more feedback, and there is still an optional variable-ratio dynamic steering system .

Audi also brings new driving parameters to the R8. Specifically, it adds dry, wet, and snow weather parameters to the car's performance mode. Frankly, we would like to meet the maniac who drives their R8 V10 Plus in the snow in performance mode, but as it is a four wheel drive, with good snow, it would not bother us to try.

New lightweight 20-inch machined wheels are available as an option, while 19-inch units are standard. As before, carbon-ceramic brakes are available, as one would expect on this type of machine. Audi has also redesigned the front splitter of the car, turning it into carbon-reinforced plastic, a modification that reduces just over 4 pounds from the nose of the car.

The Spyder 2019 also has the same new look and performance improvements.

Speaking of which, the nose of the R8 is now more square, with some ventilation holes above the remodeled (and still imposing) central grille supposedly reminiscent of the famous 1980s Audi quattro model. Rear, a redesigned rear diffuser with central ventilation. Two new colors are also available for 2019: Ascari blue and Kemora gray.

Although none of the changes brought by Audi to the 2019 R8 Coupe or the Spider droptop is huge, the cumulative result of these small upgrades should make a great car even better. Audi will start offering the refreshed R8 in Europe from the beginning of next year, but for the moment, a representative of the company would only confirm to Roadshow that, in our region of the world, the model "will come into 2019 "and is" subject to future announcement for the US market.
