BMW has announced details on the 2019 X2 M35i. The production of this vehicle will begin in November for the US market. BMW designed the ride to be "extrovert" and packed it with the most powerful BMW TwinLower Turbo 2.0L engine that it has ever manufactured. The engine is 302 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

This engine sits under a M Performance engine hood and is the very first 4-cylinder M Performance engine. For the small displacement engine to be so powerful, BMW needed to strengthen the crankshaft and use larger main bearings. It also gets pistons with a 9.5: 1 compression compared to the 10.2: 1 compression on the other versions of this engine.

BMW claims that the X2 M35i can reach 60 mph in 4.9 seconds of stopping. BMW adapts the M35i to the M Sport suspension system that is adapted to the performance of the car. An M Sport differential for the front axle, another first, is installed to help the vehicle maintain traction. The brakes have been improved to stop the vehicle better.

This braking system has fixed and floating rear calipers in the Dark Blue M metallic paint. The M Sports steering offers a faster ratio and gives the driver a direct and precise feel. The M35i is 10 mm lower than other X2 vehicles. Two adaptive damper suspension settings are manually selectable.

Other features of M Performance include cerium gray outer tips and an aerodynamic kit based on the X2 M sport package. LED headlamps and fog lamps are equipped with 19-inch wheels and 20-inch wheels are optional. The seats are M Sport units with improved support and can be obtained with red leather and black accents or all black. Standard seats are sport units in black or oyster. Prices are not advertised.
