A new luxury SUV arrives in town, and if you demand seven seats, a remarkable style and an M Sport package, the 2019 BMW X7 could be the truck you need. Above the X5 as the largest choice of BMW SUVs, the all-new X7 promises the best of the manufacturer's technology without sacrificing comfort.

It's really distinctive, especially because of its size. At more than 16 feet 10 inches long, 6.5 feet wide and 5 feet 11 inches tall, the presence on the road is guaranteed. BMW then adds what it describes as "a striking and extremely prominent forward gear".

The evolution of the kidney grille will probably be one of the most controversial style elements, the oversized sections almost looking like fangs between the LED lights that squint. The latter will offer BMW Laserlight upgrades in some locations; the standard is large glass and the tailgate divided into two sections. BMW does not mark the exterior chrome either.

A big car needs big wheels. Light alloys of 20 inches are therefore standard. The 21 and 22 inch wheels are optional, as is the M Sport package. This includes special wheels, M Sport suspensions and brakes, an M Sport exhaust system and an Aerodynamics M package with front and rear bumpers, side skirts and special wheel arches.

You can also use the X7 Design Pure Excellence package. This gives you more undercarriage and stylish bumpers, an aluminum trim with side windows, and wheel arches and side skirts in the body color. The B and C posts are finished in high gloss black, and there are special 21 or 22 inch wheels. BMW is also throwing on the aluminum roof rails, too.

The front and rear air springs and adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers are standard. BMW offers Integral Active Steering and Executive Drive Pro with Active Roller Stabilization Option, as well as a M Sport Differential. An off-road package enhances off-road talent, with xSand, xGravel, xRocks and xSnow driving modes.

BMW has four engines, but we do not know exactly what will happen in the United States at launch. The top of the tree is the 2019 X7 M50d and 2019 X7 xDrive50i. There are also 2019 X7 xDrive30d and 2019 X7 xDrive40i models.

Seven seats in three rows are standard; one option consists of two individual "comfort" seats in the middle row, for a total of six. Four-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting and a three-section panoramic glass roof are also standard, as are Vernasca leather trim. The trunk is 326 liters but can be extended to 2,120 liters with the seats lowered.

Options include five-zone automatic climate control, Ambient Air Package, 15,000+ Illuminated Sky Lounge Panoramic Glass Roof, and 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system The third-generation head-up display contains more information, while the BMW Live Cockpit Professional is standard: it features full-digital driver graphics, a 12.3-inch display, and more. a second corresponding display screen for the infotainment placed at the top of the central stack.

BMW does not just have lavish features either. There is an option for cooled and heated cup holders, wireless charging for a smartphone, and a "Crafted Clarity" glass trim option. A rear-seat entertainment package adds two 10.2-inch touch screens. The seats in the second and third rows can be controlled electronically, with buttons in the trunk. BMW's intelligent personal assistant – think of Alexa, but controlling the car – is also included.

On the driver assistance side, there will be active cruise control with stop & go, a Driving Assistant Professional with steering assistance and lane control, help to maintain a lane, cross traffic warnings, etc. A parking assistant and a backup assistant will be the norm.

Production will be at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, USA, and BMW announces that the X9 2019 is expected to be launched in March 2019. Prices will be confirmed closer to this point.
