The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 LT5 engine, 755 hp, is now available

At first look, the Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna shown here looks a bit too tame for SEMA. It has been clearly restored with care and tastefully modified, but that's about it. So, why would Chevrolet dedicate a complete press release to this pleasant but forgettable restomod? Because there is an LT5 under the hood.

Yes, you read it well. Chevrolet pushed the Corvette ZR1's 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 into this 1973 box. And although the construction was done specifically for SEMA, you'll soon be able to recreate it yourself now that Chevrolet has decided to offer the LT5 as a cash engine. Bring the engine exchanges!

Chevrolet says the cash version of the LT5 is based on that of the Corvette ZR1. It's unclear how much power the engine produces in a body, but if it's not the same 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque you get in the ZR1, it should not be far. Pricing has not been announced either, but it must be assumed that it will not be cheap. I hope that Chevrolet can confirm how much it will cost when SEMA starts later this month.

In addition to the Laguna Chevelle exchanged with the LT5, Chevrolet will be offering a 1967 C / 10 pickup featuring its ZZ6 EFI cash engine, as well as a 1978 Silverado K10 with L96 cash engine exchange.
