World of Warcraft and Overwatch developer Blizzard Entertainment is a busy business right now. Not only does the studio prepare BlizzCon, its annual gaming convention, but it also faces tremendous upheaval. Blizzard co-founder, CEO and president Mike Morhaime has announced that he will leave the company after 27 years.

In an article published this week on Blizzard 's official website, Morhaime explains that he "decided that it was time for someone else to lead Blizzard Entertainment. Morhaime does not go into detail about what prompted him to take this decision to the letter. Executive says that he is grateful for both the "hardworking and talented people" of Blizzard as well as for the fans of the community. In addition, Morhaime confirms that he will retain a role of adviser to the company.

J. Allen Brack, who has been with Blizzard for 12 years and is the executive producer of World of Warcraft. Morhaime describes Brack as his "friend, colleague, [and] "Trusted Advisor" and also praises her "unwavering commitment" to the Blizzard community as well as her leadership and commitment to quality. Meanwhile, Brack calls it "a huge honor and a huge responsibility" to be blizzard's CEO.

Brack will be responsible for the management of the company as she prepares to launch new games. Last year, Morhaime revealed that Blizzard was working on several new IP addresses. The boss of the time, Blizzard, also revealed that the studio was well placed to "incubate" new projects. Brack also referred to these projects in his statement, confirming that the founder of Blizzard and World of Warcraft Lead designer Allen Adham will join the management team while "continuing to oversee the development of several new games".

Given that Overwatch This was Blizzard's first new IP address for 17 years. Blizzard now has multiple new IP addresses to its credit. Brack could eventually find himself at the head of massive new franchises, once these secret games are released.

As mentioned, there is also the issue of BlizzCon. This week, Blizzard also unveiled its schedule for the highly anticipated gaming convention, which led to vivid speculation that a new Diablo the game will be announced. Nothing is certain, but it means that for the next few months at least, the new boss of Blizzard Entertainment will have the work to do.
