Some things are too good to be considered as simple concepts. That's why the stunning Porsche 911 Speedster receives extremely limited production as a birthday present for the German manufacturer. At the beginning of the year, Porsche unveiled the concept study of the 911 Speedster, an open-top two-seater with outstanding features.
Indeed, the real appeal of the 911 Speedster lies largely in the details. Side mirrors in the shape of "Talbot", for example, look almost like nothing on a production car, and shine with their black chrome and platinum finish.
This same finish is used for the fuel tank cap, which is placed in the center of the car hood. The 21-inch center-locking wheels now have a cross-spoke design, which, according to Porsche, is supposed to remind racing cars like the 911 RSR and the GT3 R. Although it is a Cabriolet body, a very different car is underneath. Porsche used the chassis of the 911 GT3 for the 911 Speedster, equipped with carbon fiber composite wings. The same material is used for the front cover. GT's development department has also helped the exhaust system, which has titanium outlets, not to mention the transmission.
It's a naturally aspirated six-cylinder, with Porsche's promises surpassing 500 horsepower and turning up to 9,000 rpm. It will be associated with a six-speed manual transmission.
Porsche announces that only 1,948 of the 911 Speedster Series car will be produced, a nod to the Porsche 356 "Number 1", which got its operating license in 1948. Manufacturing will start in 2019 and will be the first car of the brand to offer the new heritage design packages. They will allow more customization and customization, depending on the whims of the buyer. As for the total cost, Porsche says nothing at the moment.
