Earlier titles constituted a list of villains – most of them working for the shadow of the Knights Templar, with a few exceptions – and managed their deaths through storytelling missions. As the series developed, it was time to understand their motivations, especially in Assassin's Creed 3 which gave the players control of the Templar Haytham Kenway for the first act of the game.
