After several users complained that the Windows 10 October 2018 update erases their data, Microsoft announced Saturday the availability of the update was stopped.
"We have suspended the launch of Windows 10 October 2018 (version 1809) update for all users, while we are investigating isolated reports of missing users after updating certain files," said the tech giant on his support page.
Users who manually downloaded the update were advised not to "install it and wait for new media to be available".
Microsoft has also provided links to allow people to contact the company through.
"We will provide an update when we resume the deployment of the Windows 10 October 2018 update to customers," the article added.
Users who installed the "Windows 10 October 2018" update complained that the process had erased their user profiles, including documents and photos, the media reported.
An alarming number of users have been to social media forums and Microsoft's technical support website complaining about this serious problem.
Since Microsoft had not started to automatically release this latest update, only people who manually visited "Windows Update" and checked for updates installed the latest version of the software.
