The eve online SPF spin-off will go into closed alpha in November

Project Nova, the shooter set in the EVE Online universe, will be going on an invitational alpha test in November, CCP Games announced today at its EVE fan convention in Las Vegas. Although this has been around for years but was playable for the first time in 2016, Project Nova often looked like a half-abandoned dream until CCP announced in April that the project had progressed well and that it would be playable in 2018. kept that promise: there is also a playable demo for participants at EVE Vegas.

I will have you read my impressions of this demo in the next few days, but you will not have to wait too long to have a chance to discover it for yourself. With the alpha closed starting in November, players can sign up for the chance to receive an invitation here.

During the main presentation of EVE Vegas, we also received a lot more details on what will be Project Nova. Similar to Dust 514, a Playstation 3 exclusive, Project Nova is a multiplayer shooter set in the EVE Online universe, though both will not connect significantly (at least for the moment). This is quite disappointing, since it was a central feature when Project Nova was first announced. Players play the role of Warclone in a fight against the evil nation Sansha in PvE and PvP battles. Like all shooters these days, Project Nova will also have a "progression system with a wide variety of customizations in terms of abilities, weapons and skills."

Similar to EVE Online shipbuilding, Project Nova players have modules with different features that they can integrate into their exo-armor combination. Customization seems to be the key, with players having a choice of six different armor combinations, each one suited to a different style of play.

Project Nova will offer a single player campaign and PvE fights against "Adaptive AI of the enemy" with "unpredictable procedural goals". This means that the CCP tries to make missions work differently every time you play them. However, players must work in teams and can also shape the map by deploying various tools such as automated defenses.

It sounds good, but there's so much we do not know about Project Nova. CCP has not announced price or release date, so there is no guarantee that two more years will not happen without release.

At EVE Vegas, I'm in the field, stay tuned for our impressions of Project Nova and news from EVE Online.
