The next free Sea of Thieves extension, Forsaken Shores, will not be launched on time. In a blog post, developer Rare said the expansion would be launched on September 27, about a week later than the date announced on September 19.

Rare did not reveal any specific reason for the delay, but the British studio said in its post that the extra time would help the team to offer a "stable, flawless and bug-free experience".

"It's not a decision that was taken lightly, and we know it could disappoint fans looking to play the update this week," Rare said. "The team that appreciates the community's understanding for this change in our publishing plan."

Forsaken Shores adds what players ask for: more things to do. It introduces a new volcanic region that players can explore and complete the challenges. You can watch a trailer of the update of Forsaken Shores in the video above.

The extension of Forsaken Shores follows the Hungering Deep and Cursed Sails expansion launched earlier this year. Rare provides more content in the future, while a royal battle mode has not been ruled out.
