Yesterday, complaints from Android users surfaced citing typing problems with the Google Gboard mobile keyboard. Of course, sliding is the action of sliding your finger over the letters of the keyboard rather than touching them. Google had acknowledged receipt of reports, offering users a troubleshooting option while working on a patch. Now, a few hours later, this fix is online.

It is unclear what caused the problem, but users reported similar results: during the slip attempt, the keyboard incorrectly recorded the letters and produced the wrong words.
This has resulted in a complete mumbo jumbo, at least for some users, forcing them to press each key individually or to switch to a different mobile keyboard.
Users were urging each other to restart their phone to temporarily fix the problem and Google confirmed that it was a potential solution. Forcing the application to stop and restart was also a potential temporary solution.
Although it worked, users said that the problem eventually returned, making it only a temporary solution to a boring problem. Now Google is back with an update advising users to perform one or the other of these actions – force the shutdown or restart of the phone – as a fix permanent.
Once the phone / Gboard application restarted, the bug causing the problem will be permanently fixed. Although most of the reported complaints are centered on Pixel smartphones, other phones would also have been affected.
