The latest beta version of the Google app is being rolled out tonight with a number of new features. The Google 8.39 application reveals a possible imminent depreciation of "Unlock with voice match", a theme material for the "Plus" tab and "Kitt" – assistant for cars.

Redesigned "Plus" tab
The last "Plus" tab of the Google app contains a number of settings and options, the Google 8.39 application revealing a redesign. Many of the same menu items appear, but the words "Search Activity" and the new "Your Data in Search" privacy controls are now included.

Last week's beta added a "kitt_device" which, we assumed, was linked to Assistant on Android Auto. The Google 8.39 app is back with new channels confirming that it is related to the Google Assistant. We were also able to enable "Add a car" in the Services section of the Assistant setting.

Voice Match obsolete
With Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, Google removed the "Unlock with Voice Mail" option that allowed users to:

How to update?
You can sign up here for the beta program of the Google app or by going to the Play Store list on Android and scrolling down to the bottom. The latest beta version of the Google app is immediately deployed as soon as it is available.
We do not publish APKs for download directly because of legal difficulties related to copyright and the possibility of deletion. In the meantime, this model is perilous given Android's bundled bundles of apps and dynamic Google Play delivery.
