The Google Maps update adds hashtag support in comments.

Google wants to help Google Maps users find places that meet their needs. In this regard, the search giant has added a brand new feature allowing Google Maps users to add hashtags in their comments. The new feature has already been deployed on Android devices, but only advertised members of the Google Maps local guide program, TechCrunch reports. They were told by Google that they could add hashtags (eg, # family friendly, # wheelchair accessible, #datenight) to their old critics, as well as to the news.

However, Google Maps users will not have a predefined set of hashtags to add to their reviews. They will include anything that better describes the restaurant they visit. So you can expect to find hashtags such as # vegetarian, #steak, #greatdessert and so on.

Of course, restaurants are not the only thing you can add hashtags because each location identified by Google Maps as important will allow you to include hashtags in your comment.

Unfortunately, we do not know when and if the new feature will be made available to iOS users as well, although we doubt that Google ignores the platform of Apple, so it may be that A question of time.
