The candy and witch season returns to Overwatch on October 9th. Blizzard Entertainment announced today the Halloween Terror event will be back on that date and will be broadcast on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC game consoles until October 31 (aka Halloween).
Overwatch was launched in May 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and now has more than 40 million players. On-the-go events like this offer time-limited play modes and cosmetic items, including costumes. These encourage absent players to come back to check for new content, and this also encourages everyone to spend money on loot boxes (which contain these cosmetic goodies).
Halloween is a natural choice for an event in the game because the whole party is to dress up in costumes. In the past, Overwatch characters have been posing as pirates, witches and monsters. Halloween Terror 2018 will bring back these old outfits and add new ones (although we still do not know what they will be).
The Junkenstein's Revenge cooperative play mode will also be back. Four players team up to fight waves of computer-controlled enemies and bosses. This is a good change of pace compared to typical Overwatch, which focuses on team competition. Blizzard has revealed that Junkenstein's Revenge will not see any radical change this year.
