Infiniti has a very cool new performance car called the Project Black S prototype which was developed with the cooperation of Renault sport F1 team; the car uses the world's first double-hybrid powertrain. This prototype differs from the design study presented in Geneva last year in that it incorporates many technological improvements. The improvements include weight reduction with a lot of carbon fiber used, a motor sport inspired interior and improved aerodynamics. The dual hybrid system can capture heat and kinetic energy to improve performance. Two energy recovery units are used to capture this energy, including an MGU-H (generator) and a kinetic system called MGU-K (reciprocating engine). The latter generates electricity when braking. However, the heart of the car is the Q60 Red Sport's Infinity twin-turbo V6, which develops 400 horsepower. These energy recovery systems combined with the gas engine generate a total of 563hp. The electricity harvested via these systems is stored in a 4.4 kWh lithium-ion battery in the rear compartment.

Electricity is used as an anti-lag system to wind turbine blades faster in the e-turbo. The energy stored in the battery is used to power the MGU – K by adding up to 120 kW of electrical energy directly to the driveline to provide instantaneous acceleration and without delay by the engine. rear axle. The Project Black S prototype is also the first Infiniti to use drive-by-wire drives. Infiniti says the prototype's development until 2019 will move from the lab and the dyno to the race track for performance testing and validation in the real world. Infiniti says that after development, the elements of the car will be integrated into future road cars.
