The Razer Phone 2 is expected to be announced later in the evening during a speech led by Razer's CEO, Min-Liang Tan. Previous leaks have shown that it would share a design very similar to the company's original smartphone. And now, as reported by GSMArenaAmazon has prematurely revealed more details, with a list now extracted from Amazon Italy revealing some key specs before tonight's revelation.
On the one hand, the back logo of the Razer Phone 2 will turn on and be customizable in RGB. What a wonderfully nerdy and very very Razer thing to do. Second, Razer adds wireless charging to the device. To account for this, it seems that Razer – like everyone else – is going from an aluminum back design to a shiny glass. Finally, the Razer Phone 2 will apparently IP67 resistant to water and dust.
The device will retain its 5.7-inch 1440p display capable of providing refresh rates of up to 120Hz for scrolling and more fluid games. This fluidity at 120Hz is a selling point that only Razer delivered on a smartphone. Apple has not yet integrated ProMotion display technology from the iPad to the iPhone.
Hopefully the implementation of Razer will be a little brighter this second time, with outdoor visibility a problem last year. As with other specifications, the phone will predictably switch to Snapdragon 845, with storage options (64GB) and RAM (8GB) remaining unchanged. Large loud speakers also seem to be back.
The battery capacity and camera of the Razer Phone 2 have not been addressed. Camera performance was another area in which Razer was significantly behind other flagship brands with its first smartphone, so the company will have to dramatically improve its suite if it wants to be competitive . The images show that the camera has been lowered and centered; now it is right above the Razer logo, the flash now dividing its two goals.
