While there is only one week left before Apple unveils its 2018 iPhones, we learned Wednesday that the iPhone X Plus version that will be released this year will be called iPhone XS Max. If you think that sounds crazy, then you will not like to hear that the cheapest iPhone that Apple will be launching this month could be called iPhone Xr rather than iPhone 9. It's even crazier than this replacement "Max" Plus.
But no matter what Apple names the new iPhones, it is likely that the cheapest model will be a hit with customers. And we have a new leak that shows us the presumed colors of the handset.
The color should be the least of your worries when you buy a new smartphone, iPhone included. When the iPhone X was launched last year, it was only available in two options, including black and white, which was surprising given that Apple continued to add new color options to the iPhone line in previous years.
The iPhone XS models will also be available in gold, revealed marketing images from Apple, but it is the iPhone 9 that will offer the most choice, according to some reports released earlier this year.
Now, Slashleaks has listed a bunch of images that show fake iPhone 9 units painted in different colors, including red, blue and purple.
These are not functional devices, but they look identical to the 6.1-inch iPhone dummy units seen in previous leaks. Several design elements and features are easily identifiable, including the single-lens rear camera, as well as the location of the SIM tray. The dummy phones seem to have a glass back and an aluminum frame.
In addition, the image above shows a SIM tray capable of holding two cards, which could explain why Apple has positioned it lower on the right side of the phone than expected.
